Anonymous asked: When I try to layer gesso on top of color to get a muted look, as I've seen you do many times, I can never blend it on the edges enough to transition from the gesso to the color nicely (if that makes sense) and I was wondering if you have any suggestions?

Alright, so, at the edge, where you want to mix it in with the color behind it, you can do two things:

1. Blend the edges with your fingers. This gives a softer look, and you have a bit more control over the gesso than when using a brush.

2. Mix a bit of the paint color from underneath with the gesso at the edge. So I’d put a bit of the paint along the edge, then slowly mix that with the gesso until you get the look you want.

Hope that helps!
